President Qin's Little Wife Is The Strongest

Chapter 71

Out of fear for her skills, Mo Yifan had sent her to a room that had rich merchants that were barely skilled. With just a little goading, she had been able to make them raise the stake from $50,000 to $200,000.

“I don’t believe it.” one of them murmured in disbelief looking at the girl that was still brimming with youthfulness.

All six of them were merchants and needed ways to keep their companies and businesses thriving and since gambling was one of the quickest ways to earn money you didn’t work for as long as they played it safe, they loved to indulge in it.

And so when they had seen a young girl in her high school uniform and a young boy ask for a game, they had at first been offended until the gambling officiators assured them that they had a right to play. They had agreed very quickly with the intention of schooling them.

How could they have expected that in just the first round, they would have lost that amount of money.

“It could have been luck.” one of them murmured as he looked at the surprised expression that Song Jian had and took a swig from his alcohol bottle. Three of them nodded, accepting his narrative while the remaining two nodded their heads in disagreement.

“No, we all underestimated her.” one of them said, his eyes that were slightly glazed previously from the drinks became clearer as he sat up.

“We will play again.” he declared and the others nodded. Not only did they need to earn their money back, they needed to also win profits from these two.

.....

Rong Yue nodded.

“Set the stakes now.” she said and her eyes shined happily, making the six men think that she was on some high from winning.

“Double!” the man that had assumed the role of the leader announced. Rong Yue took in the reactions of the others as she quickly determined that the man probably had the most money among them.

“I’ll play this one more round, after which any money won belongs to the winner.” she announced.

Her words made the six look at themselves in contemplation.

“$500,000”

Rong Yue nodded in satisfaction. That was their limit and she also had no interest in pushing them.

Very quickly, the game started and like the first time, Rong Yue carefully looked at each man’s expressions to see the ones that had been handed a good hand of card. It didn’t exactly matter much since they were all pooling together, but it would let her know where their trump cards were.

To a lot of people, gambling was a game of skill, but Rong Yue was using psychology to make up for her lack of skill.

After determining which two had the best hand, she looked away from them and focused on the other four. In a game, there were four supreme cards, the most supreme being the Ace of spades. Luckily, this card was in her hands with one joker which meant that she already had the most superior card.

Unlike the first game, it dragged out longer with each of her opponents playing carefully, just as they were about to enter a stalemate, the two with one joker and one king immediately put out their card as they expected at least one more man to bring out one of the supreme cards.

“Are you now playing as a team?” Rong Yue asked with furrowed brows like someone they had successfully scared out of her wits.

“We have always been playing as a team, princess.” one of them replied as he sent a wink at her. However, after communicating with their eyes and trying to find who was with the remaining supreme card, their expressions started to change and they looked at her with suspicion, “are you not going to make your next move?”

“You just said you are playing as a team, which means you have to finish playing before I can play.” she replied with an innocent expression.

At this point, everyone had two cards left and since the first two had handed over their last two cards, the remaining four had no choice either.

“Quite unfortunate that i won this round again.” Rong Yue announced cheekily, like someone announcing the weather as she dropped her two cards.

“This is impossible! How can you have those two cards?” one of them screamed fiercely as his eyes glared daggers at her.

“I agree! Let’s search her and see.”

“I warned you before we started, I’m very lucky..” she said leaving the words hanging in the air,in her mind, however, Rong Yue added ‘i even cheated death.’ to her words.

“Sirs, since you all don’t have two of those cards and your group did the shuffling of the deck, one can say that no foul play happened here, unless of course, one of you is working with this woman.” the moderator said as he stepped forward from where he had stayed the whole time.

Without asking them, he packed up the stacks that they had bought that signified the amount that Rong Yue had bought and then also grabbed the ones that were with Rong Yue on her side of the table.

“I’ll be leaving now, thank you for the game... and the money.” Rong Yue said as she stood up and pulled Song Jian along with her.

“H...how did you do that?” Song Jian asked as soon they left the room of stunned six men and were back in the hallway.

“The first time was them underestimating me which I expected, as for the second time, even though I was able to read them accurately, I have to say that it was really luck. I didn’t expect that I would get those two cards. I might have still won, it wouldn’t have been this easy.”

Song Jian nodded and said nothing more.

“If I remember, we still have about $120,000 left, you can assign us to another room.” Rong Yue told the moderator that was in front of them.

“The boss asked us to bring you both back to the top floor.”

Like that, the two were back on the floor with those plain white hallways. Only this time, they were not being handled like ticking time bombs and were led into another hallway.

“Lead the girl in.” Mo Yifan’s voice rang out and Rong Yue sent a reassuring smile at Song Jian. Although she knew this man was dangerous, she could also feel it in her bones that he had no intention of hurting her.

When she entered, Mo Yifan was sitting with one leg raised up on the executive desk in front of him while his eyes were fixed on the screen of the desktop in front of him.

“I don’t know if to applaud your luck or your reading room skills, either way, information moves around here quickly which means that you won’t be able to make another room of men underestimate you. On the other hand, the more money you take from them in one night, the more hate you would incur..”

“Like i can see now.” he added after a second as he looked back at the screen. Rong Yue said nothing, knowing that there was more for him to say.

“So I would waive the debt, after all, you have won what the punk owes.” Mo Yifan said and Rong Yue nodded to show that she accepted that arrangement. Gambling money was not what she enjoyed or looked forward to and so having the chance to not have to play was a good thing for her.

“I suspect I will be seeing you again in the near future, until then, Miss Yue.” Mo Yifan said as he fixed his gaze upon her like he wanted to keep those features of her in his mind. But he knew that her face like hers was not one that he could forget.

And he knew that even if fate didn’t bring them together, he would go searching for her.

Rong Yue nodded and said nothing more as she stood up. She doubted they would meet again. After all, he was full and shrouded in darkness and while she was no light, that was the path that she wanted and would take.

Outside the room, Song Jian sighed as soon as he saw her come out and kept taking side glances at her as they were led to the general hallway while he wondered what could have happened in there.

“Your debt is already cleared. Also, none of his men would assault you or your family anymore.” she told him and a weak smile broke on his face as his shoulders sagged with relief. Although he was free from these people, he didn’t think that he was completely free considering that it was Rong Yue that helped him.

As if she was reading his thoughts, Rong Yue spoke up. “You don’t owe me anything, all I did was play gambling with a friend. I didn’t pay a dime so don’t go around thinking you are owing something in return.” she scolded gently.

“Also, you should thank your sisters. They helped me find you.”

“My sisters?” just as he asked, the door to one of the rooms in that hallway opened as two men led Song Yan and Sun Li out. Rong Yue did a quick glance of them from head to toe and only sighed in relief when she saw that they were fine.

“Yue’er! Are you okay? I was scared out of my mind the whole time!” Sun Li exclaimed as she rushed over, wrapping Rong Yue in a full blown hug. Vlearly, the past two hours had been testing on her mental health.

“I’m fine.. See.. we can go home now.”
